Homeless no more!

People, after nearly 3 weeks of house hunting, I am finally not homeless anymore. Screw you leryee and MQ. No more HOMELESS okay. Haha

Anyway, let's join in the journey of house hunting in Sydney.

Generally, Sydney has an average vacancy rate of 15% over the years. Unfortunately, the rate fell to nearly 1.7% this year. I forgot which dude told me this. :P

Yes, that's a dramatic drop. Uh.. Wonder why eh?

Well, according to my uncle, who is a PR and works in a real estate field, he claims that the Oz govt. has stopped building new apartments in the city at the moment. Therefore, the chances of you being able to find a vacant apartments is like finding a $1 dollar coin in the beach. Haha.

But yeah, that's just how hard it is to find a place in the city.

Most of you must be sayin, " Eh, why you alwiz on9 only? I tot u homeless? Go around and find house lar." Haha. Unfortunately, that's not the case over here. First of all, we did go around the agents looking for apartments to rent. However, due to the stupid rules here, they couldn't simply let us inspect the apartments. According to the agents, we have to set a date with the agent. And apparently, most inspections are done on Saturdays, which leave us with nothing much to do on weekdays.

Come Saturdays, we have to freakin rush from this apartment to that apartment, then to another apartment and so on for inspection. Hmmph, what if we found a nice apartment and decided to rent it? Juz pay deposit and bond then settle la, can sign contract ady. Ya rite man. It's not like this. Apparently due to the freakin low vacancy rate in the city, we have to rebut with nearly 20 other applicants. Yes, it's 20 other applicants, not people!

Okay, how bad can it be? 20 applicants only mar. NO once again. According to the agent, most landlord prefer to rent their apartments(in most preferred order) to working people, married couples, family, and lastly students. Oh wait, students are divided into two parts, Female and Male. Okay, seeing that Me, Fats, Yy and Cy are guys, we're last among the last. Damnit.

As weeks past by and our frustrations gradually increasing, we finally found a place. However it is in the suburb. There were 3 other groups inspecting the apartment at the same time. Haha, it must have been our lucky day. Apparently the agent is a Malaysian and it seems that the apartment belongs to his friend. He even chatted with us in Cantonese( the other groups are Indons) and mentioned that he would rather rent it to us. We handed in the documents and filled in the application forms as normal.

A few days later, we got a call from this agent again. He told us that the landlord decided to rent to us the apartment but we have to wait 2 weeks before we could move in as the landlord needs to find a new place to stay. Wat the hell, 2 weeks aint nothing, might as well wait as long as we get the apartment. Therefore we agreed with the agent and decided to sign the contract the next day. Wat happen the next day surprised us to hell. The freakin agent called us in the morning and said that the landlord decided to rent his apartment to the other group. Fuck you no tomorrow buddy! Knn Ccb. There, another home got rob.

Ohyah, I did not mention that we had an apartment got stolen right under our nose. Haha, stupid of us eh. We got conned by that agent. Here's how the story goes. We went for an inspection in Summit(the building I lived in last year) and decided to rent it. The agent told us that we could hand in the application forms by tomorrow morning. Partly confident that we could get this apartment, we came back the next morning to find out that the agent had ady rented this apartment to 2 Thai chicks. Damn u hamsaplou.

Yea, after all the frustrations and so we finally got a house in Kingsford. It's near UNSW and there are alot of Asian restaurants around there, notably the famous Ayam Bakar 99 and Sinma. We're paying 650 p/w for this house( at 650, you could only get an unfurnished 2br apartment in the city). It has 4 small bedrooms and a large bedroom. I decided not to upload any pics yet as the house is very empty indeed. Haha, the fact is, I'm lazy thou :P

That's pretty much about it. Sums up why I am homeless in Sydney for nearly 3 weeks. Thanks very much to SP for letting us stay over in his place all this while. Thanks dude.
