Are you serious?

Homeless man fined $155m for starting fires

November 18, 2008 - 5:03PM

A homeless man has been sentenced to nearly four years in prison and ordered to pay more than $US101 million ($A155.49 million) for starting two fires, including one that burned more than 66,000ha in California two years ago.

Fifty-year-old Steven Emory Butcher was convicted in February of starting blazes in the Los Padres National Forest in 2002 and 2006.

The 2006 fire raged for more than a month and cost more than $US78 million ($A120.08 million) to suppress. It injured 18 people, destroyed 11 structures and was the fifth-largest fire in California history, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

The 2002 blaze burned 28ha.

Does the court actually expects the "homeless man" to pay the fine?

It's good to be back, I think.

It's the time of the year where families and friends gather once again.

Yes, Happy Chinese New Year people. It's good to be back again.

Having dinner with family, meeting relatives and friends, hanging out in mamaks
while doing nothing.

Somehow, it's different this time. I'm dun feel that exited compared to the previous years. I wonder why eh?

Anyway, went to renew my passport at the Immigration Department. Was one hell of an experience. I waited nearly 20 minutes for my turn to be called, which is pretty understandable coz of the amount of people waiting as well. To tell you the truth, I was surprised at how fast my turn approached.

However, THEY FREAKIN MADE ME WAITED FOR AN HOUR JUST TO PAY! How can that be man? It's not like you get your passport back immediately after you pay the fee. That's the thing I dun understand. Are they really that busy? Or are they the typical government servants? Gosh.

Welcome to Malaysia.

Melbourne Part I

I am going to melbourne.Haha.

It's gonna be a part vacation part sports thingy.

We (MASA-Malaysians Students Association of UTS) won the inter-games soccer competition between fellow Malaysians from another Uni, which was held in April.

Therefore, we got selected to represent NSW in this MASCA games. The different states takes turn to host em and it's Melbourne's turn this year.

( NCG games logo )

( Our schedule for the games )

Some of us are going to play 2 sports (tat includes me of coz), soccer and futsal. The thing is, both sports' venues are going to be outdoors, which in simple terms, PLAYING ON THE FIELD DURING WINTER IN MELBOURNE !!!! Gosh. It's cold enough trying to get my ass movin from one place to another in Sydney, what more playing soccer during winter. To make it worse, the games is held in Melbourne, which is slightly colder than Sydney.

Don't believe me, check out the weather forecasts below.

(Sydney's weather forecast)

(Melbourne's weather forecast)

As you can see, Sydney's weather averages around 15 degress during noon (it goes to 1 digit during night time) while Melbourne's highest, I repeat HIGHEST temperature during the day is around 16 degrees, which means that if we're lucky enough, Mr. Sun will smile at us. If we're not, Mr. Wind will be whistling at us during our soccer games.

Nevertheless, I'm looking forward towards this games. Hopefully and if we're lucky enough, bring a medal or two back for Sydney. Hooray ZOMG! Lol, I even had a jersey made out of "ZOMG" to match my blog.

(Peeps scream ZOMG now!)

Okay, there you go. I finally updated after my exams.

I guess the exams have drained almost all of my energy, making me lazy to blog.

Come to think of it again, I guess it was the drinking and the *shit* that made me tired. Lol.

It was good. Chillin out and sleeping till evening.

Gosh, I'm becoming a Night-person (can't think of a name here) again.

It's good thou, I get to look at the bright moon and sunrise at the same time. :)

Melbourne Part II will be out when I'm back. Till then, take care peeps!
